Julie Wellman
I have a background in treating college students and adults in both a university and private practice setting. From college freshman to non-traditional and international students, I want you to know you are not alone. Young adults may sometimes struggle figuring out who they are, their values, belief systems, sexuality and relationships. I enjoy working with those facing challenging times or adjustment to the loss of a loved one, job, career, or relationship. I have experience in treating sexual assault survivors, IPV/DV and post-childhood sexual abuse. I have counseled survivors of all ages and genders, as well as supported clients during criminal and civil court proceedings.
My strengths include quick rapport building, thorough assessment, and treating a patient through a systemic lens. I believe collaboration with other professionals and providers is key, and that therapy works best when supportive services are included in treatment. I am strength-based in my approach, supportive yet direct, and tend to build long-lasting relationships with my clients.
I have degrees from both Michigan State University and Central Michigan University. I use the following therapeutic approaches: Interpersonal Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, CBT, Strength-based, Person Centered, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy
