Ghadeer Nasser

MHC Intern
Red Cedar Old Town & Virtual

I am a clinical mental health counseling intern and I am completing my master’s at Eastern Michigan University. I received my bachelor’s in neuroscience with a minor in gender studies at Michigan State University. I’ve come to this field by way of exploring different helping professions until I realized counseling was the exact thing I had been searching for. One of those previous helping professions I explored was personal training so I place value on exploring the ways in which our physical bodies and environments impact our mental wellness because it is undeniably connected.

I believe that the more a person can understand their own life story, consider useful reframes, and feel validated in their experiences the better this world will be. Therapy is not just for the client, but for all the people that client will interact with in their lifetime because healed and self-aware people add something special to their communities and relationships.

The most important thing to me as your therapist is that you feel seen and supported by me. As part of that support, I will challenge you to consider different ways of thinking and approaching situations that will get you closer to the best version of you that you can imagine. I want to create space for you to process the things you never thought you’d have the courage to say out loud as well as encourage you to dream big about what your future can look like.

I have had experience working with individuals with significant trauma histories, couples, LGBTQ+, and children. I have previously worked with young children with autism and currently work as a clinical case manager that supports adults with developmental disabilities. I am a woman of color who is a child to Iraqi immigrants. I have a beautiful australian shepherd-mix named Atlas, I love to run and dance, and my favorite show is Parks and Recreation.
