Who Am I?
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Political Science from Central Michigan University and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Eastern Michigan University. Additionally, I have three years of training at the Gestalt Counseling and Training Institute of Ann Arbor and have completed training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness-based approaches. I live in the area with my wife, Emily, two cats, Yarr and Prince, and our rescued German Shepherd, Bailey.
How I Help
When I first entered the field of counseling, my initial idea was to specialize in individual counseling for children and adolescents.
As I began to ask my clients why they sought counseling, I found that nearly every person, regardless of age, spoke about how their stress, misery, or anxiety was affecting the relationships in their lives. Issues like anxiety, depression, anger problems, and life crises all have significant impacts on our relationships, and vice versa. This realization led me to broaden my focus to include clients’ relationships—whether romantic, friendships, or family—as a way to help them achieve lasting satisfaction and healing.
I believe that people inherently understand their own lives better than I ever could, and they possess an innate sense of what they need to improve or heal. My focus is on collaborating with clients to recognize these solutions and develop their underlying capacity to grow and thrive. Solutions that clients discover for themselves are more likely to stick with them long after therapy ends.
