Who Am I?
I was raised in Southeast Michigan and earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from Michigan State University. Over the past several years, I have dedicated my career to working with individuals and families in Lansing who are navigating the challenges of chronic, life-limiting illnesses through Palliative Care and Hospice Care services. My experience spans a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief. I also work with children aged 11-18, young adults, and older adults.
Currently, I live in the Grand Ledge area with my two friends, Lexy and Charlie, and our cats, Dale and Max (aka Boots). I take care of four plants: a eucalyptus, a jade, a succulent, and a Nanouk. In my leisure time, I enjoy reading, crafting, camping, and hiking.
How I Help
Throughout my professional journey, I’ve learned that each individual and family is unique in how they process their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Many people struggle with intrusive thoughts and emotions that lead to negative, self-destructive patterns, impacting all areas of their lives. I use empathy and compassion to collaboratively work with clients, helping them identify and challenge these problematic patterns. I believe that a therapeutic relationship is built on mutual trust, honesty, and open-mindedness.
During therapy sessions, my focus is on helping clients recognize and utilize their existing abilities and tools to explore, establish, and reinforce new positive changes and patterns. My goal is to assist clients in developing coping mechanisms so they no longer feel overwhelmed and frustrated. While therapy can be challenging, I firmly believe that every individual and family has the capacity to learn, grow, and heal.
