Ainslee McVay

LMSW, CAADC
Red Cedar Okemos & Virtual

I believe that the foundation of a successful therapeutic relationship is compassion and understanding. My aim is to work together to develop the best approach for the individual in therapy and adjust accordingly to the individual’s needs. By establishing goals with the individual, we can address the concerns and underlying issues that can change difficult.

I received my bachelors degree in social work from Central Michigan University and my masters degree in clinical social work from Ferris State University. From there I worked in MAT substance abuse counseling for the first three years of my career and earned the CAADC (certified advanced alcohol and drug counselor). I have been in private practice for the last three years, where I earned my LMSW and have worked with a wide variety of clients. I am also a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community and worked to advocate for social justice.

I enjoy working with the LGBTQIA+ community, kink aware therapy, substance abuse counseling, trauma informed counseling, and couple’s counseling. I am experienced in working with a wide range of mental health concerns including; past/present trauma, anxiety, depression,
personality disorders, substance abuse, life transitions, and more.
