Wendy Williamson
Opening up to someone you don’t know is one of the most difficult things in the world to do. I understand that and want to make that as comfortable and non-threatening as possible. I believe that the more you can trust your therapist, the better you will do in therapy. I will work hard to earn your trust.
My approach to therapy is always person-centered, with the person being you. I am skilIed in exposure therapy for trauma, Cognitive-Behavioral therapy for a variety of issues, as well as educating people about their rights and services. I have expertise in Social Security Disability, Guardianship and Alternatives, anger management and the dynamics of alcoholism/addiction/abuse and how it affects families. I have 30 years of experience working with adolescents and adults with disabilities, adjustment issues, PTSD, stress and anxiety and depression, along with many other issues in my career.
I am also adept at helping you recognize patterns of behavior and their origin and working to change patterns so that you can have a happier life. I work well with adult children coping with childhood abuse. I am down to earth and my clients have always told me that they like how I speak to them in a straightforward manner. I received both my Bachelors of Social Work and my Masters Degree of Clinical Social Work at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan while working in the Community Health System. I have worked in the CMH system, in the auto no fault system and doing clinic-based therapy.
